A Message from Stephanie Whalum, AST’s Director of Government Affairs:

Greetings!  I’m happy to announce that AST and CASA have enlisted the services of the Sacramento lobbying firm – Nielsen Merksamer.  With the help of these expert lobbyists, we hope to achieve the goal of getting a law passed in California that would require all surgical techs entering the workforce to be certified and – most importantly – require all California health care facilities to hire only certified surgical technologists!  California’s 2019-2020 legislative session is off and running, and we’re working to lockdown the necessary sponsorship and support we’ll need to cross the finish line this time!
